The BIG was founded in the fall of 2012 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison by friends Alex Holland, a Democrat, and Tim Schlidt, a Republican. Even though Alex and Tim identify with different parties, both realize that America faces many serious problems that require solutions from both Democrats and Republicans. In the face of the partisan cloud above this country and an ever changing world, Alex and Tim believe that students are capable of addressing and solving current issues.
