Our Events

The Bipartisan Issues Group hosts monthly speakers and other events to spark conversations about current issues. Here is a sample of some of the events put on this year.

October 24, 2012

BIG Debate

The UW BIG teamed up with the UW Chapter of the Alexander Hamilton Society to host a debate between College Democrats and College Republicans. Health care reform, foreign policy, the economy, and education were discussed.

October 17, 2012

Education

Robert Rauh, the CEO of Milwaukee College Preparatory and UW alum, spoke about the effectiveness of Charter Schools. He talked about his success with students at MCP and how Charter Schools can address different concerns. Wisconsin's Students for Education Reform helped sponsor the event. 

Syria

September 18, 2012

University of Wisconsin professor Jon Pevehouse spoke about the role of international actors in civil wars. The crises in Sudan and Syria and the current state of Iran were discussed.
